Filter Service

Pool filter cleaning, replacement, and cartridge service

The filter is the unsung hero of your pool. It catches everything the skimmer misses, and it's the difference between clear water and cloudy. Cartridges need rinsing. DE grids need cleaning and recoating. Sand needs changing. All of it matters more than people realize.

Common questions

How often should I clean my pool filter?

Cartridges: every 3 to 6 months depending on pool use. DE: every 3 to 6 months plus annual teardown. Sand: backwash every 4 to 6 weeks, full media change every 5 years.

Is cartridge or DE better for my pool?

DE filters catch finer particles, so water is crystal clearer. Cartridge is easier to maintain and doesn't require adding DE powder. Most newer SD pools we work on are cartridge. Older pools often have DE or sand.

My filter pressure keeps rising fast. What's wrong?

Usually debris overload or scale. If you're in an area with hard water (San Marcos, El Cajon), calcium can embed in cartridge pleats. Acid wash or replacement is the fix.
