What do Del Mar homeowners ask about salt water conversion?
Is salt water better than chlorine for my Del Mar pool?
It's the same chemistry (chlorine disinfection), the salt cell just generates chlorine automatically from dissolved salt. Water feels softer, chlorine spikes are rare, and you stop hauling chlorine from the store.
How often does a salt cell need cleaning in Del Mar?
Every 3 to 6 months depending on water hardness. Hard water (Del Mar) cells need more frequent cleaning to keep output up.
Will salt water damage my pool equipment?
Modern pool equipment is salt-rated. Older metal fixtures (ladders, light rings, handrails) can corrode faster. Anything vulnerable on your Del Mar pool gets flagged before converting.
